About Ruth Keating
I am a qualified counsellor holding a Professional Diploma in Counselling, and Psychotherapy and I am also Accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP).
I support adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, anger management difficulties, and challenges around men’s mental health. I recognise that these issues can often feel overwhelming or difficult to talk about, and I offer a space where clients can feel heard, understood, and respected.
My approach is integrative, drawing primarily on person-centred therapy while incorporating elements of psychodynamic therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This allows me to tailor my work to meet the unique needs of each individual, whether that involves exploring past experiences, managing present difficulties, or developing practical coping strategies.
I provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions at their own pace. I work collaboratively, offering empathy, understanding, and gentle challenge where appropriate.
I have a particular interest in supporting men’s mental health, acknowledging the unique pressures men can face when it comes to expressing emotions, managing stress, and seeking support. I aim to create a space where clients feel comfortable speaking openly, without fear of judgment.
I believe in the importance of building a strong therapeutic relationship, empowering clients to gain insight, build resilience, and make meaningful, lasting changes in their lives. I understand that reaching out for support can feel like a big step, and I strive to make that process as comfortable and supportive as possible.
